Miranda Moran is a Chartered Physiotherapist in Longford her team have been involved in the area of Physiotherapy since 1993. Qualifying from Trinity College Dublin with an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiotherapy she went on to successfully complete her Orthopaedic Medicine Exams and became an Accredited Sports Physiotherapist for Elite Athletes.

What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is the treatment of conditions using physical means such as Mobilisations, Manipulation, Massage, Stretching, Electrotherapy machines and Therapeutic exercise programs.
What is a Chartered Physiotherapist?
Physiotherapists can only use the word Chartered in their titles when they are members of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. This body only accepts people with an approved University Education and hospital-based training. At present there is no law preventing anyone from practicing as a “Physio” even if they have no training.
Will I be given exercises?
At Miranda Moran Physio Clinic we always give advice on the management of conditions and appropriate exercises to do in between treatments to optimize the recovery process. Tailor made exercise sheets are also provided for you to take home.
What can a Physiotherapist do for me that I cannot do on my own?
A Chartered Physiotherapist is a Specialist skilled in the accurate Assessment, Diagnosis, Treatment and Rehabilitation of Physical Conditions which takes years of University training to cover all types of conditions which may affect you.
Do you know how many treatments I will need?
Following your first appointment the Chartered Physiotherapist will discuss the anticipated number of treatments and reassess you on each visit.
Can I have a Home Visit?
Of course but the cost of a Home Visit has to include travel time from the clinic and so this does increase the cost of treatment.
Your data is any information about you. We collect and keep some data about you so that we can provide the healthcare services to you that you expect from your Chartered Physiotherapist. We keep this data in a secure environment, and we only keep what we need for as long as we need to. Some of the types of personal data we keep are: Name, Address, Date of Birth, Gender, Phone Number, Email address, Family members, Insurance Provider information. We also keep medical information, which can be more sensitive and so is under tighter control. This is your Health Data, and can include medical notes, health issues, medications, test results, reports to or from from other health professionals, referral letters, medico-legal data, and other health related correspondence. We are committed to protecting the security and privacy of your data. All members of our staff are aware of their obligations to protect your data, and via the code of ethics of our profession, regulated by the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. We only use your data in ways that you would expect us to in the provision of Physiotherapy and the facilitation of other Medical Services as indicated. This is your data. You have the right to ensure that the information is correct, and the right to access the information, to stop us processing it, to have it erased in certain circumstances, and to have it transferred to you or to another person securely.

Do I need referral from my GP?
No GP referrals are necessary but if you have one, bring us a copy of the Referral Letter and Relevant Investigations e.g. Scans, X-Rays etc.
Will I be treated during my first consultation?
Your first consultation will consist mainly of assessment and some treatment.
How long does a treatment take?
Initial Assessment lasts 30-60 minutes follow ups are approximately 30 minutes.
I have Private Medical Insurance, am I covered with you?
Chartered Physiotherapy is covered by all major insurance companies as long as you attend a Chartered Physiotherapist.
Will I be expected to do anything in between treatments?
It is important to follow your tailor made home exercise program and advice this essential to your recovery. Knowing what to do that is the key which is where the Chartered Physiotherapist’s specialist training comes in.
What about payment?
Payment must be made after each consultation. We accept Cash, Card or Online Payments. Receipts are either emailed or printed on request after each treatment session.
